Sportzot is the first non-alcoholic specialty beer with taste in Belgium. The famous Brugse Zot blond is used as the basis, which is brewed with 4 different malt types and 2 aromatic hop varieties. -
I found this bottle on the bottom shelf in a wine and beer sellers in Cambridge. I couldn’t read the label and didn’t have high hopes to be honest. When I popped the cap half of it jumped out over the floor and this is after it had been standing in the fridge for several weeks - the hydrophobins doing their thing. Aroma and taste has a robust Belgian quality, as does mouthfeel. Now, I LOVE Leffe style beers but they’re usually so strong they always gives me a headache. Had I found a 0.4% replacement? In truth, almost. The taste is up there and you really do get a lot of flavour for your money. There’s a hint of something no quite so nice in there (maybe an old batch?) that I still can’t quite put my finger on, but that aside, this really is a lovely drink that I will most definitely be buying again.
